Exploring the World in the Kitchen

Food definitely brings people together in this refugee run restaurant and cooking class in New Haven, USA.

“Food has a way of bringing people together,” said Sumiya Khan of Sanctuary Kitchen. “By coming together over food, it really brings a different perspective to people who might be considered different.”

Not only does this initiative help refugees gain employment in a new country, but it is also a two way educational experience for both the refugee chefs, and the customers. Both get to fill themselves with stories and fill their bellies with yummy food.

You can experience the cuisines of Mexico, The Dominican Republic, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Sudan, The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eritrea, and many more.
