Connecting us all with the Worlds Love of Food!

Taste of Haven is a social media based initiative aimed at removing the some of the negative attitudes towards Australia’s rich migrant community. We work to promote social integration and acceptance by urging local restaurants to provide volunteer training and employment opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds.

We hope to encourage a positive environment in which new and exciting spaces can be established where people from around the world can share their love for cooking. Such spaces will be able to not only help refugees and migrants learn industry skills to assist with employment opportunities, it will also improve their english skills, and allow them to forge new friendships and connections with people that might have shared similar experiences. We hope that this will work to promote greater attitude of acceptance in our communities.

There are many business within the Sydney hospitality scene that are already working towards similar goals. These are businesses that provide employment and training opportunities for our incredible refugee community.

The problem is that not many people are aware of the great work that is occuring. As such, one of our main focuses is to spread the word about where these places are and how people can get involved. By creating this awareness we are also able to celebrate the diverse cultures and achievements of the member of our community.

“It affects and involves us all, and what it needs is understanding, compassion and political will to come together and find real answers for the refugee plight. This has become a defining challenge of our times.” – Filippo Grandi
